It's about Being like Jesus

At Trinity, we are less about institutional membership, and more about making a positive, life changing connection with Jesus Christ.
Part of this process is committing to a community of faith, a place where one can continually learn, grow, and serve. While all people are welcome into our community, official members are set apart as committed to the community.

Types of Membership

There are two types of membership, Baptized and Covenant. Both call for
members to strive toward achieve the Marks of Discipleship. These are seven ways we find through scripture and experience help us to continually develop a closer relationship with God.

The Marks of Discipleship

The Marks of Discipleship are as follows:

- I will worship regularly
- I will make prayer a part of my daily life
- I will give my “first fruits” to God and work toward tithing (10%) my income
- I will serve in a ministry based on my spiritual gifts and talents
- I will become involved in a small group
- I commit myself to sharing my faith with others in word and deed
- I will protect the unity of our church by acting in love toward other members, refusing to gossip, supporting our leaders, and living a godly life

Baptized and Covenant Membersip

Baptized Membership
Becoming a Baptized Member signifies that a person has made a commitment to being a regular part of our community of faith, and is working toward committing to fulfill the Marks of Discipleship.

Covenant Membership
Covenant Members are actively committed to fulfilling the Marks of Discipleship while being assured of God’s constant grace and acceptance.

Unlike Baptized Members, Covenant Members are able to vote during congregational meetings, lead small groups, ministry teams, serve on the council and help determine the direction the congregation takes in the years ahead.

How Do I Become a Member?

Over a cup of coffee (or your hot beverage of choice), we will share with you “why we do, what we do, the way we do it.” You will be introduced to our core values and get an overview of the Marks of Discipleship. We will then discuss Baptized Membership, which signifies that you want to be a regular part of the faith community at Trinity.

Membership Class
Covenant Membership

After becoming a Baptized Member, the next step is to attend a Membership Class. Prior to the class you will have completed a Membership Profile and informal interview with a staff member at Trinity.

After the Membership Class, you will be invited to finish the process of membership and become a Covenant Member. This process includes meeting personally with a staff member at Trinity. The purpose of this interview is to affirm you commitment to Christ, Trinity Church, the Marks of Discipleship and to answer any questions you may have.
